News January/February 2010
I’ve been recording quite a lot of late. A CD with Chris Wallace’s quartet (for release very shortly) and a couple of tracks for singer Louise Mochan’s debut CD. Alongside these I’ve been recording some Bill Evans’ pieces for a collaboration with saxophonist John Burgess as well as some new pieces of my own for the, now much delayed, solo CD. I’ve also, as always, been writing away furiously for other ensembles and will, hopefully, have some news of performances and recordings of those too very soon!
News June 2009
I won an award…at the inaugural Scottish Jazz Awards on 22nd June in Glasgow – the ‘Jazz Guitar’ category…needless to say I’m surprised, delighted etc. I’m also equally pleased that Paul Harrison (from the organ trio) was similarly honoured in the Piano category 🙂
The Red Note Ensemble are playing one of my new pieces (‘cut & paste’ – written for clarinet, ‘cello and double-bass) next Monday (29th June) at The Arches in Glasgow!
News March 2009
The Scottish Guitar Quartet are back…!!!
We have two shows initially and more to come later in the year – if you’d like to see some old footage of the band (from 2003!) there are a good few videos up on YouTube! …these are up there thanks to the great, and very time-consuming, work of Steve Wright @ TV2Day.net…thanks, Steve!!!
News September 2008
The CD with Adam Bulley ‘Two Days Away’ is done – if you’d like a copy, please get in touch! (also check out our MySpace site – the link is below in the ‘Friends’ section). The SOT have just done some great shows with Tam White and we’ll be touring next year (2009) – dates will come up as they’re confirmed. I’m also writing away as ever – some string quartet pieces and various other work as it comes along. I’m also working on some tracks with the wonderful Jacqui Hicks – which is very exciting!
