Skye Records welcomes new artists Josie and Pablo to the label!
Josie Duncan and Pablo Lafuente are an exciting new Scottish song-based duo and semi-finalists in 2017’s Radio 2 Young Folk Awards. Since joining forces at Celtic Connections 2016, the two have been busy combining their rich musical backgrounds and performing around Scotland.
Josie Duncan is a young singer, songwriter and Clarsach player hailing from the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. Josie is currently studying Gaelic Song, Scots Song and Clarsach at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Over the past year, Josie has performed in Sweden, Switzerland, New Hampshire USA and at Celtic Colours Festival in Canada.
Pablo Lafuente is a young guitarist and fiddler from Spain via Stirling. After studying at The National Centre for Excellence in Plockton, Pablo moved to Glasgow, where he is highly in demand as a full time guitarist playing with such bands as Barluath, Sketch, The Outside Track and The Grouse Ceilidh Band. Pablo is also currently working on a new project with percussionist Iain Copeland and flautist Joe Armstrong.
With influences from the Outer Hebrides and the Central Belt, Josie and Pablo released their debut EP in December 2016, Available now on itunes, Spotify and from Skye Records. The EP features Scots Song, American song and the duo’s specialty, Gaelic Puirt a Beul.
